It's witty and original and not one of the actresses can be found on the latest cover of Seventeen.

The story is about a group of friends that get together every year to do some kind of outdoor adventure. This year they go spulunking in some uncharted caves when there's a bit of a cave in and the only known way out is blocked. Throw in some unexpected carnivorous creatures that look like the surviving orcs from the Lord of the Rings and it makes for some good times. There were a few scenes where I literally jumped off the couch, which is interesting because I don't really get scared by movies.

I would give the movie five stars but the ending kind of stinks, so it gets a 4 * * * * :)

My girlfriend rather enjoyed it too so it's definately on the "to buy" list.

I'm also reading Michael Crichton's new novel "Next," which is about the crazy world of genetics... Now, I haven't read anything detailed about what kind of signals they are. This is not the official band name, just a working title. We have already got a good chunk of one song completed, entitled "Holocaust in Colour," which I had originally started to write for my other band. I have put up a demo of the guitar on a myspace page. Keep in mind this is a DEMO. It's recorded with my home PC with a cheap studio program and a piece of crap microphone. Anyway, I like the song. It's only got one guitar in the track and the song will end up having two.

The song is about the state of our world and how human beings will eventually destroy ourselves. It's about how stupid we are as a race and how all we have to do to make things better is open our eyes. The perspective on the song however is that it's too late and we're standing back saying "Holy fuck... we're idiots."

Well I'll keep you updated. Some obsticles are easily overcome, while others take a lot of energy, and in some cases a lot of time, to conquer. Some obsticles are life altering and help define the person that you will become in the future, while others are smaller in scale, maybe only affecting your day or just that specific point in time. Where am i going with this? Well, I present before you the obstacle that stares into the faces of a few dozen people I work with: Getting out and finding a new job!

Job hunting is not as easy as most would think. I need to find a job that allows me to spend time with those I love, sleep, and allow me time to work with my band. Currently I have one, working in a place a friend of mine refers to as "Pergatory." I shall also use that name when talking of said workplace. Whilst Pergatory has been a thorn in my side for far too long, like most others I am too lazy to actually devote hours upon hours to finding a new place of employment. I have, however, learned quite a bit working in Pergatory. I think the most significant piece of information that came into my possession was the epiphony I had in regards to the human being: Adults do not exist.

Too many times have I stood in complete shock as I watched a man, or a woman, much older than me throw a temper tantrum. The image that passes through my mind is one of a six-year-old child, standing in the toy section at a Wal-Mart, holding his breath and stomping his feet because mommy wouldn't let him have the latest Batman action figure. It completely baffles me how a grown man can stand in a line up at Pergatory and complain to the point where you almost feel embarassed for him. It's like all sence of dignity goes out the window until he gets what he wants.

The other thing that confuses me so much, is how the general population tends to think they are above the working man. That working man is working really hard for his $7.75 and really does not want to have you scream at him because you've had a bad day. What angers me more is when that working man is actually a young kid. Some sixteen-year-old high school student doesn't need to come to work, which he is probably doing so he can pay for the eight years of university to become a doctor and heal your sorry ass when you're sick, and have you scream at him. It's ridiculous and insulting and I tip my hat to all those that deal with this nonsence.

So, in conclusion, the idea of a mature adult working a nine-to-five while raising a family does not exist. Most people are just angry six-year-olds trying to get his action figure while those of us that are mature stand back with jaws dropped, wishing someone would just give him the damn Batman and shut him the hell up.

Comments?

[Jay]

Shades of Grey?

What to write about? I'm sorry, I should say "blog about." I forgot I need to sound all hip and savvy. Lets see, today me and my girlfriend pretty well bought a couch set. Besides my car, it's the biggest purchase I've ever made. We were almost having panic attacks at Leon's. We started having doubts over the couches almost immediately but you can't beat 16 months no payments and no interest. We'll have it paid off before the bloodsucking Leon's dudes come after us with their outrageous interest rates.

Good times.

Also, has anyone seen the trailer for the new James Bond movie? That will be sweet. Trust me, I know... I can see into the future. Also, me and my girlfriend bought the first season of Grey's Anatomy, which in case anyone is interested is only 9 episodes long. I know it's a bit of a girly show and you're probably rolling your eyes at me, but wait until I tell you about the season finale of Desperate Housewives! It was gooood!

Right now I am waiting for my iPod to charge so I can go for a run. I need to get in shape I think since I am going to some family reunion thing for my girlfriend's family in August. Gotta look good. Oh and in case anyone has forgotten, my girlfriend's name is Jen. Remember it. Write it down. Just don't call her or I'll sneak up to your bed at night and stick your hand in a cup of warm water and laugh while you pee yourself!

Do I seem hostile? I'm not, just tired.

I started working on some little love song that I think is pretty cool. It's kind of about how you need love and support from the girl you want to spend your life with, tied in with how you may be in love with her and want to marry her but she just hasn't realized she feels the same just yet. It's a work in progress.

Well, it looks like my iPod is about ready to go so I will be leaving you with these wise words:

"......................"

I got nothing!

[Jay]

Angels & Airwaves

Alright, so I thought I would start my little blog off with a review of the Angels & Airwaves (AvA for short) show in Toronto I saw last night. The show was held at the Pheonix Concert Theatre located at 410 Sherbourne Street. I had never been here before, and was sort of expecting something a little larger, but the building is not that big. Anyway, we got inside the concert room and i was happy to see that we were going to be fairly close to the stage, some 15 feet away. The opening band came out and played, I can't remember their name, but they were good. Now this is where I describe what it is like to live in Hell for thirty minutes.

The lights came on and the opening act started packing up their equipment. This was about the time when a large crowd of 15 year olds decided it would be cool if they could push their way to the front row. I have seen plenty of concerts and I can say with absolute certainty that a crowd of 2000 at an all ages Slipknot concert behaves better than what I witness last night. For those that have been to a concert, you know the burdens you must deal with in order to see that band you like play their 90 minute set: Body heat; sweat; crowd surfing; mosh pits; possible asphyxiation; and a random elbow or foot in the head. Last night was that and then some. I had no desire to get to know the guy behind me the way I did. There was way too much penis-to-bum touching. I also got seperated from my friends. Then the kids thought it would be funny, now that we're all so cramped it's rediculous, to start pushing everyone so the crowd sways to and from almost knocking everyone flat on their asses.

This was when Angels & Airwaves came out.

The crowd became even more retarded, everyone attempting to jump and dance when there literally is no room between you and the next person. My girlfriend lost her shoe and had to go down for it while I tried to hold people back. Once she stood up, we turned around and got the hell out of there and watched the rest of the show from the back. By the second song, I saw one of my friends, and a girl he knows, fly out of the crowd to get away from the insanity. And by fly... I really mean fly. It was comical, almost as if he had been picked up and tossed out of the large mass of people.

As for the band: I was very impressed. I have seen blink-182 live and I have seen countless live videos of Tom DeLonge (AvA's frontman). There was a lot of lights and Tom DeLonge seemed to try really hard to make the show as epic as he claims it is. His voice was awesome and the instruments were good.

Do I believe that what Tom DeLonge is saying about this band, that it will be the biggest band in the world within two years, has any crdibility? Yes. Yes I do. I have seen blink-182, Slpiknot (twice), Sum-41, Our Lady peace and others live, and I stand firm at saying this was the best show I have seen as of yet. I am definately looking forward to a full album headlining tour.

I'll see you there!

[Jay]

A New Era

Hi!

My name is Jay. I am 22 years old, I have a beautiful girlfriend named Jen who has an equally-as-beautiful daughter named Taylor. Oh! and I play guitar. I used to have a band, maybe I still do, I'm not sure. I guess I'll use this wonderful piece of technology to post updates on what's going on with me musically as well as my home life.

When and if my band ever gets going again, I will post a link to our myspace and you can check it out. We'll post on the myspace blog and what not, but I'll save this area for the stuff about me personally (i.e. my home life). All right, well I hope you enjoy.
